Lawyer

The job of a law professional is to provide its services to the clients by advising them in cases related to legal matters. Also, they represent their clients in disputes and legal issues by defending them in the court. A lawyer is also known as an attorney. Lawyers often initiate lawsuits, conduct law related research, participate in formal hearings, prepare legal documents, etc. Lawyers usually represent all sorts of clients ranging from individuals, government agencies, business corporations, etc. Law is a career which requires loads of patience and logical skills. From Mahatma Gandhi to Barack Obama, there is a long list of luminaries who have used the legal profession as a stepping-stone to unmatchable greatness.

SCOPE OF LAW-

Unlike other forms of professional education, such as engineering or medicines, law education is both professional as well as liberal. With a growing economy and rise in the number of foreign firms targeting the Indian market, the requirements of legal expertise will only increase, making law a very lucrative career.

LAW ENTRANCE EXAM

In India, there are many examinations that a law aspirant can appear for in order to gain a degree in the same field. The examinations are as follows:

CLAT - Common Law Admission Test is another national level law entrance examination which is organised on a rotational basis by 19 NLUs (National Law Universities). The examination scores are used for admissions in the L.L.M and L.L.B Programs offered by NLUs and other law universities. CLAT 2018 is scheduled for May 13.

Here’s the structure of a CLAT:
English, including Comprehension-40 marks
General Knowledge/ Current Affairs- 50 marks
Elementary Mathematics- 20 marks
Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness- 50 marks
Logical Reasoning- 40 marks.

AILET - All India Law Entrance Test is conducted exclusively by NLU, Delhi to provide admissions to LLB, LLM and PhD programs held by the same law school. The exam is conducted in offline mode, having 150 objective type questions. AILET 2018 is scheduled for May 6.

LSAT India - Law School Admission Test India or LSAT India is a national level law entrance examination. It is organised by Pearson VUE on behalf of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) every year. The examination is designed to test a candidate’s verbal reasoning and reading skills proficiency. LSAT India scores are accepted by nearly 76 law schools across India.

Judicial Services/Civil Services
The State Judicial Services Examination organized by the High Courts for their respective states, is a safe and sound option for those of you, who wish to pursue a stable government career. One may also opt for the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, which is the most prestigious examination in the country.

  • Legal Process Outsourcing

Legal Processing outsourcing (LPO) is the delegation of core legal functions like making first drafts of cases, compliance work, legal research, etc. to an external counsel. The assigned task is completed on the basis of set parameters and fixed timelines. You can become an important part of reputed MNCs by forging a career in LPO.
  

  • Indian Legal Service

 There is also an option of legal service in Department of Legal Affairs and Legislative Council in Legislative Department. Law officers and legal advisors are appointed in almost all the ministries/department/undertakings of the government of India and state Government.

Teaching - This is best field when you don't need to work for a long hours. You can go for LLM and the take up teaching Law as a subject in the law colleges.

Bank Jobs - IBPS SO Exam qualification assures the aspirants's selection at the preferred position like IT Officer, Law officer etc in the Indian Government Bank.
